These items are only accessible to Nova should he decide to undertake the fantastic quest for the Continental Cup. Team Tsunami is a sharp-shooting tidal wave of destruction, an unpredictable Hawaiian daredevil and a burly Australian-outback kangaroo cowboy -- intimidating players united by a crafty Japanese engineer who is determined to test her techno-genetic experiments.
These three were the sole survivors when their cruise ship ran aground off the coast of Bora Bora. Stranded on a tiny coral island, Tsunami learned how to channel ocean power. Now they display the most accurate shooting skills in the league. With shots as deadly as a rip tide, team Tsunami will barrel forward, wipe out the unsuspecting opposition, and gain themselves a mighty victory.
A loco Hawaiian daredevil who lives for risky business, Kahuna will try any whacked out stunt Kahuna lives on Molokai with his grandparents, and in the evenings, he runs a casino out of their garage. Kahuna has two pitbulls named Poi and Ehu. He drives a monster truck, he's tight with his family, and he likes to barbeque with the boyz on Sunday afternoons. Three specials items are available to Kahuna if he chooses to undertake the daring quest for the Continental Cup: a turbo towel, shark-bite shins, and shark's tooth wristbands will improve his speed, stealing, and passing skills.
Rumiko is a Japanese geneticist who believes that technology will eventually obliterate all human error. Rumiko was raised by Zen Buddhist monks in a monastery outside of Kyoto. None of the monks shared Rumiko's interest in combining genetics with technology, so at an early age Rumiko left the monastery to pursue her dreams. Rumiko has manufactured three pieces of specialty equipment that she has reserved to enhance her speed, shooting, and hitting abilities during her quest for the Continental Cup.
These items are: a fusion-powered jet pack, a set of hydraulic stolen boosters, and a titanium robot arm. Born in the outback settlement just outside of Deep Well, Boomer was an orphan who grew up surrounded by kangaroos. Years ago, a slick businessman who had strayed from his adventure tour met Boomer and wanted to sponsor him in a crocodile wrestling league.
Boomer turned the offer, much preferring to play Aussie Rules with his favorite 'roos. Boomer is a regular at the Dust Trap the only pub for thousands of kilometers and he enjoys a good meat of mushy peas. The Continental Cup quest is an opportunity for Boomer to enhance his stealing, his speed, and his passing skills. During the quest, he must obtain three trusty items: his 'roo ring, his crocodile claws, and his reptile hat. A sarcastic Frenchman, a rough-and-ready Scottish boxer, and a flashy Italian superstar charging fast and furious across the pitch -- team Volta electrifies the fans and strikes down the opposition.
Volta was formed when a retired Scottish soccer legend was caught in an electrical storm on an evening when he happened to be wearing an extra-large kilt pin. The lightning's electrifying jolt endowed Angus with sonic speed, and he set out to create the fastest in soccer history.
He sought out Arsenault and Dante, and team Volta was born. A trio of electrified soccer legends A feisty Scotsman with an unpredictable temper and cheeky attitude.
Entertaining for his mates, but dangerous for the opposition. Angus was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He disgraced his father abandoning his highland dancing to become a boxer. A rumor whispered across the Scottish moors suggests that Angus might have a few tricks up his sleeve to increase his hitting, shooting, and stealing abilities.
During Angus' quest for the Continental Cup, he may gain access to these powerful items: fleecy tassels from a special sheep, a shield to increase his hitting power and a stolen lance. Flashy and flamboyant, Dante is the Italian soccer star with most fans -- and the best hair. The bigger the audience, the better for Dante -- after all, every side is his best side. Dante still lives at his family's home in Treviso.
His ten adoring sisters will always be his most devoted fans, and nobody will ever make pasta sauce than Dante's Mama. To increase his shooting and ability speed, Dante must quest for the Continental Cup and recover these items: a family heirloom, a gift from his adoring sisters, and a lucky charm from his psychic hair stylist.
A discerning Frenchman, Arsenault is convinced that skills surpass those of everyone else on the pitch. Descended from the French aristocracy, Arsenault learned to play soccer in an exclusive private school outside of Nice. He lives alone, and he is very fond of his many prize-winning poodles. If Arsenault chooses to undertake the quest for the Continental Cup, then he will encounter objects that will enhance his shooting, his stealing, and his speed: a magical flask, shin pads that were pilfered by a poodle, and an antique earring with a unique history.
Fearless and enchanting and musically talented, these sweethearts are a triple threat on the pitch. The ladies of Team Love call their vinyl-pop band the "Love Bunnies", and their greatest inspiration is the legendary Lederhosen Lola. When they heard a rumor their idol joined the Sega Soccer Slam League, they jumped into a pink convertible to track Lola down.
While the sweethearts were out on their pilgrimage, an evil woman who lived in a candy house enticed Petra's father with an opportunity to expand his confectionary empire. Hoping that Petra would return home to help out with the family business, Petra's father sent a truckload of Valentine's candy as a bribe.
The three divas ate so many candied hearts that they ended up with a permanent love-sugar buzz - a force that transforms them into cupid's warriors on the pitch. Petra the "Love Bunnies" lead singer is the daughter of a world-renowned German chocolatier.
She has a voice of as smooth as honey, and a sweet tooth that always gets her into trouble. Petra grew up as a sweetheart of her father's chocolate factory.
A conflict of interest scandal drove Petra away from home -- rumors surfaced that her father was romantically involved with the tooth fairy. To console her broken little foil-wrapped heart, Petra packed her pink suitcase full of Easter Eggs and chocolate cuddles, and headed for Los Angeles, hoping to make good on the Hollywood bunny trail.
She got a temporary job at the karaoke booth at an amusement park outside of Los Angeles. Marla or Dr. Honey as her friends call her holds a PhD in entomology from a university in Sweden. When the animal testing became too much for handle, Marla gave up bug science and moved to Detroit, where she became a security guard for her favorite punk band. When the band's lead ran away with a gothic independent filmmaker, Marla saved the day and stole the show with her performance.
Addicted to stardom, and in hot pursuit of the recognition that she deserved, Marla went to LA. She hoped to record a demo tape with her friend Petra, who she knew was working in a karaoke booth at an amusement park outside of LA. Nadia is the daughter of a famous Hollywood lounge singer and a dashing young magician. When her mother ran away with a goldsmith, her father was devastated.
He quit show business and decided to grow carrots. Until she was 24, Nadia stayed with her father on his vegetable farm. However, Nadia had inherited her mother's incredible voice, and she loved the spotlight. Although the cows seemed to appreciate her musical talent, Nadia eventually hitched her tractor to a star and hopped out to California to fulfill her destiny.
Until she could attain stardom, Nadia sang in a juice bar in North Hollywood during the Sunday morning superstar breakfast rush. She sang syrupy melodies to healthy starlets who were drinking designer juices after their power yoga classes. Rumiko created Pi, Diode, and Mecha as prototype robots with human emotions. She realized her experiments had failed when she wound up with Team Robo: a pseudo cowboy, a heartbroken troublemaker, and seventeenth century tragic theatre expert.
To her dismay, Rumiko's delinquent robotic soccer squadron was constantly preoccupied with the production of Mecha's Shakespearean-style mini-series for public television. The last straw occurred when Diode almost electrocuted the entire cast and crew while trying to mount a horse.
When Rumiko tried to terminate Team Robo, the robots began to plot against her. The side effects of Diode's electrical mishap made Team Robo virtually invincible, so the three decided to rejoin the Sega Soccer Slam league in an effort to take down their evil stepmother from the inside.
Since the first time Rumiko charged his battery, Mecha longed to go sea. Sadly, his tendency to rust forced him abandon visions of becoming an ocean liner captain, and he spent many months watching fish and chips commercials on television and longing for the open sea.
Rumiko was disappointed with his laziness, and hoping he would become a Sega Soccer Slam league star, she attempted to increase his efficiency by reprogramming him. Mecha rebelled against her efforts and instead became a connoisseur of seventeenth literature. He set upon his heart creating a robotic version of Romeo and Juliet, a techno tragic miniseries that he would he write and direct for public television.
Pi is a tragic techno-Romeo who fell in love with a human he could never be with. He was charmed by the automated voice at a take out window, and he never recovered from his disappointment after he realized she wasn't a real robot.
Despair turned into bitterness, and then angst, and soon Pi spent the majority of his time in sleazy arcades, chatting up overused, out of date machines, desperate to fulfill his deep and poorly tuned emotional needs. Unable to control his unbalanced robot emotions, and trying to forget his heartache, Pi turned to a life of techno crime. He divided his fast times between giga-gangsters, over-greased machines, and the wrong set of mechanics. Rumiko placed Pi into the Sega Soccer Slam league, hoping to give him an outlet for his anger.
She was worried that he was becoming one of those slippery machines that has far too many well-oiled joints. Because he required the least maintenance of her three emotional prototype robots and because of the rising costs of robot daycare , Rumiko often left Diode unattended in a used car lot. The owner of the lot, a retired cattle herder from Arkansas, took a liking to the young robot, and it wasn't long before Diode picked up a few of the car salesman's worst habits.
Rumiko quickly became frustrated with Diode's behavior. She hated the way he referred to her laboratory as "the ranch", and his attempts to herd the other robots always ended in disaster.
When he tried to convert the entire Sega Soccer Slam league into a game played on horseback, Rumiko finally realized that no soccer ball could ever tame her bucking roboto. Diode was delighted when Mecha asked him to organize the horseback scenes for his new miniseries.
A retired rebel leader, a dizzy soccer-loving chef, and a legendary martial arts master; with the life force of the universe on their side, golden team Ohm battles for the Sega Soccer Slam championship. Joining the Sega Soccer Slam league brought harmonious energy to team Ohm. Jishen was overjoyed to be playing soccer in a real league, and Madeira and Da Mo agreed to exchange martial arts techniques between matches.
Without Dakai's evil scheming, the plan could have been a perfect path to enlightenment and victory. Unfortunately, Dakai was secretly practicing alchemy in a dastardly attempt to create the golden elixir of immortality. He managed to create a superhuman power for his team, but he didn't dare to tell Jishen or Da Mo what he had done.
Jishen suffers from chronic vertigo -- he was born on a Ferris wheel in Tiger Beach during the festival of the first full moon. A jovial chef and a huge soccer fan, Jishen worked in a gourmet restaurant until the fateful day he had a bad bout of dizziness while he was filleting a fish. Desperate to find a cure for his vertigo, Jishen's parents sent him to seek out Da Mo, a legendary martial arts monk.
Jishen got lost and eventually stumbled across Da Mo in the Young Forest. Da Mo and Jishen instantly became friends, and Jishen offered to cook for the monk in return for spiritual and martial arts training. When they weren't studying martial arts, Jishen taught Da Mo his favorite sport -- soccer. Da Mo is a legendary and well-respected monk.
He is famous for developing a new style of weaponless martial arts fighting. Many people believe Da Mo is a recluse who avoids human contact at all costs. However, he is quite lonely in his cottage in the hills. He chooses to be isolated because, apart from martial arts, astronomy is his greatest passion. Separating himself from civilization is the only way Da Mo can concentrate on planetary motion. Despite his blindness, Da Mo has been successful at determining many astrological principles feeling the starlight on his face.
Da Mo once stopped a flood from destroying the village beneath him. Rumor has it that he cast a spell on a dragon who dug water trench with its claws. Dakai is a former rebel leader who was never satisfied by his bandit lifestyle. He retired from duty, disguised himself as a monk, and began his search for the path to enlightenment. Anxious to achieve immortality, he started on a journey to find the ancient country of Fan.
His quest took him high up into the mountains of China, seeking the elusive Zhi, or Chinese unicorn. One day, the reclusive monk Da Mo appeared to Dakai, and offered to take the former bandit as an apprentice.
Da Mo explained that martial arts were a preferable path to enlightenment than hunting unicorns. Dakai was so grateful to the legendary master that he dedicated himself to becoming a worthy pupil.
He vowed never to leave Da Mo's side, and to protect him at all costs. This edit will also create new pages on Giant Bomb for:.
